(CNN) — We’ve had people tracking their bags when airlines can’t find them. Now here’s something new: a passenger tracking an item she left on a plane — to an airport employee’s home.Earlier in March, Alisabeth Hayden, from Washington state in the US, was separated from her AirPods — Apple’s pricey micro headphones — while disembarking from a plane in San Francisco. She swiftly realized that they appeared to have been stolen. But after nearly two weeks, she had them back — thanks to her tenacious tracking abilities.Hayden was flying back from a trip to Tokyo to visit her husband, who is on secondment in the military, when she was parted from the earphones.Disembarking from the plane at San Francisco International Airport — and a little disoriented after a nine-hour flight from Tokyo — she left her denim jacket on her seat, at the back of the plane.“I realized before I was even off the plane,” sh...Officials: 2 dead, 5 missing in Pennsylvania chocolate factory explosion

The slow start to spring training might have set DL Hall’s timeline back, but it didn’t alter his stuff. After his second spring outing Saturday, Hall was encouraged by how his pitches performed against a Pittsburgh Pirates lineup mostly filled with regulars.“My feel is probably at an all-time high,” Hall said. “My feel for all my pitches has been great.”Hall, the Orioles’ No. 2 pitching prospect, worked 2 1/3 innings in relief and threw 50 pitches — another step as the 24-year-old continues building up as a starter. He allowed one run on two hits and two walks while striking out three, displaying the pitch arsenal that made him a first-round selection in 2017 and ranked as a consensus top-100 prospect.“The stuff was really good again tonight,” manager Brandon Hyde said. “Really impressed with the strike throwing. The strike-throwing ability the last couple times has been really good. Good changeup, good slider with hi...Bruins notebook: Garnet Hathaway looking good in black and gold

Garnet Hathaway looks ready for the playoffs to start. And the Maine native has looked ready to be a Bruin his whole life.Hathaway was front and center in a taut, grind-it-out game against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday. He stood toe-to-toe with big Pat Maroon in a fight to start the game and then scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal late in the second period in the B’s Atlantic Division-clinching 2-1 win over the Bolts.Hathaway is exactly what the Bruins bargained for when they got him in a trade with the Washington Capitals with Dmitry Orlov.“He’s been great,” said Patrice Bergeron, whose line was often checked by Hathaway’s line before the trade. “I’ve always liked his game. I guess you don’t like playing against him, but he’s very efficient, very good for his team. He came in and fit in nicely on that line, but also off the ice. He’s a great guy. He seems to be a character guy. He’s leading his own way, leading b...Honduras cuts diplomatic ties with Taiwan, recognizes China

BEIJING (AP) — Honduras has cut diplomatic ties with Taiwan, the Latin American country announced Saturday, saying it recognizes “only one China in the world.”The announcement by Honduras’s Foreign Ministry posted on Twitter, and also reported by China’s CCTV, comes amid rising tensions between Beijing and the United States, including over China’s increasing assertiveness toward self-ruled Taiwan. The move leaves Taiwan recognized by only 13 sovereign states.“The government of the Republic of Honduras recognizes the existence of only one China in the world and that the government of the People’s Republic of China is the only legitimate government that represents all of China,” the ministry statement said.It added that “Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory, and as of today, the Honduran government has informed Taiwan of the severance of diplomatic relations, pledging not to have any official relationship or contact with Taiwan.”Taiwan Foreign Minister Joseph Wu said Sun...AP source: Biden’s pick to lead FAA withdraws nomination

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — President Joe Biden’s choice to run the Federal Aviation Administration has withdrawn his nomination, a setback for the administration that comes after Denver International Airport CEO Phillip Washington appeared to lack enough support in the closely divided Senate.Washington’s withdrawal was confirmed Saturday night by a person familiar with the situation who insisted on anonymity to discuss the matter. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.Republicans were united in opposition to Washington, calling him unqualified because of limited aviation experience. Democrats and allied independents still might have pushed the nomination through, but key senators on their side balked at supporting Biden’s pick.Washington’s fate appeared settled when Senate Commerce Committee Chair Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., abruptly called off a scheduled vote last Wednesday — a sign that she lacked enough votes to move the nomination out of committee...One male transported to hospital after stabbing at Keele subway station

CHICAGO — Amtrak is scrambling to fix a glitch in its system causing numerous cancellations and leaving some passengers stranded.Amtrak passengers Jonathon Briley and his daughters were ready to leave Chicago and head to Carbondale on the train Saturday afternoon, but that plan quickly changed."We arrived on Thursday [and] we're suppose to depart today at 4 o'clock," Briley said. That was before Briley, like dozens of other passengers, got word that getting out of Chicago on an Amtrak train Saturday night was unlikely."It has been a long, long trip and I was ready to go home," said Layla, one of Briley's daughters. "That was like a smack in the face."According to Amtrak, the cancellations are the result of a rail industry control system that continues to experience intermittent communication issues."We're working around the clock with our partners to continue troubleshooting and addressing these issues," a statement reads in part from Amtrak.
