Cal’s play at quarterback remains an unresolved issue heading into next Saturday’s home game against Arizona State. But when Justin Wilcox and his coaching staff evaluate the Bears’ latest performance — a 59-32 loss at No. 8 Washington on Saturday night — that won’t be the only issue they hope to address.“There’s going to be 8,000 things,” Wilcox said, perhaps only exaggerating a bit. “We’re going to look for the things we can build upon. It’s hard to see those right now.”Cal (2-2) opened its final season in the Pac-12 with a resounding thud. The Bears, headed to the Atlantic Coast Conference next fall, were down 14-0 before Washington had even taken an offensive snap. They gave up a 45-yard pick-six by linebacker Edefaun Ulofoshio on their first possession, then an 83-yard punt return for a touchdown by Rome Odunze after their second time with the ball.“It’s as bad a start in a game I’ve ever been a part of,” linebacker Jackson Sirmon said.“We couldn’t gain a...Flaring at the Martinez Refinery Friday night

Communities around the refinery in Martinez could see and hear flaring on Friday night, which often occurs when a refinery needs to burn off flammable gas due to pressure or other issues. The flaring could be seen from the I-680 Freeway and Marina Vista Avenue.“Flares are an essential part of a refinery’s integrated, engineered safety system. They are designed to safely manage excess combustible gasses by burning them off efficiently and effectively,” Martinez Refining Company spokesperson, Brandon Matson, said in a statement. “We apologize for impacting some of our neighbors and thank our employees who are safely responding to resolve the equipment issue that is causing the flaring.”Related ArticlesCrime and Public Safety | Gas is rapidly approaching $6 in California Crime and Public Safety | Gas prices hit 2023 highs as oil stays hot Crime and Public Safety | High utility bills? Sir Ben Ainslie and Emirates Great Britain earned their second straight SailGP regatta win on Sunday and the United States finished third a day after flight controller Hans Henken was knocked unconscious and hospitalized after the squad’s 50-foot catamaran crashed hard off its foils in strong wind in Taranto, Italy.Ainslie prevailed over three-time defending SailGP champion Tom Slingsby of Team Australia and Jimmy Spithill of Team USA. The Americans subbed in Taylor Canfield for Henken, who was expected to spend a second night in the hospital. The wind dropped off during the podium race and the 16-minute time limit expired, so race management awarded final positions based on the standings after five fleet races, which Ainslie dominated with finishes of 2-2-3-1-2, with the Aussies second and Spithill third.“Clearly we were racing with a lot of purpose today,” said Spithill, who visited Henken in the hospital on Saturday night. “Without a doubt, this was the toughest event we’ve ...El cantante Usher será el próximo intérprete del medio tiempo del Super Bowl LVIII
