As he packed his bags for spring training three years ago, Ross Stripling didn’t know which team’s complex he would head to when his flight touched down. Already in the desert, A.J. Pollock hosted Joc Pederson but wasn’t sure if that was his teammate taking swings in his batting cage.“It was madness,” Stripling said.“It was weird, for sure,” Pederson said. “It sucked. It was stupid.”“I remember, Joc was coming over to hit,” Pollock said, “and I was trying to figure out if he’s on our team or if he’s not.”Reunited in San Francisco three years later, the contingent of former Dodgers in the Giants clubhouse was reminded this week on their visit to Angel Stadium of what happened there. Or almost did, but didn’t. Of the trade that was, and then wasn’t.For five days in February 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic upended the world, Pederson and Stripling thought they were Angels. A day after the release of an internal probe  into a San Jose fire crew’s infamous visit to the Pink Poodle strip club, experts in personnel investigations and the city’s former mayor are questioning the honesty of the employees involved in the incident — most of whom were not disciplined for behavior that appears to violate fire department policies. While the investigation finally revealed the purported reasoning behind the visit to the Pink Poodle — Fire Captain William Tognozzi claimed he was picking up a flash drive with images of his colleagues taken by a photographer who also worked at the strip club — it also indicated that firefighters never came clean about a subsequent visit to a second adult entertainment establishment. The four firefighters — Tognozzi, Brian Dragges, Zach Clark and Matthew Westcott — initially told investigators that they had simply returned to their station after the visit to the Pink Poodle. Admission rates for Californians increased to nearly 67% this year, as opposed to 64% in 2022.The surge was more prominent at UC Santa Cruz than any other campus.
