EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The struggling New York Giants have traded defensive end Leonard Williams to the NFC West-leading Seattle Seahawks for a pair of draft picks. The Giants (2-6) said Monday they will receive a second-round draft choice in 2024 and a fifth-rounder in 2025 for Williams, who had a $32 million salary cap hit this season, the highest on the team.Seattle (5-2) has two third-round picks next year, which will help soften the blow of giving up a second-rounder. The deal came a day before the NFL trade deadline at 4 p.m. Tuesday.Adding Williams is the second move Seattle has made in the past week to add to its defensive line. The Seahawks reunited with veteran defensive end Frank Clark last week after Uchenna Nwosu was lost for the regular season with a pectoral injury in Week 7 against Arizona.Williams will likely step into a rotation with Dre’Mont Jones, Mario Edwards Jr. and Jarran Reed on Seattle’s defensive front. Reed in particular has played a lot of sn...Police say heavily armed man killed himself rather than carry out attack at Colorado amusement park

Cousins went down in pain, had to limp off the field without putting weight on his right leg and was resigned to cheering on his teammates from a cart before the dreaded ride inside for further examination.“We’re all hurting for Kirk,” Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell said, “just knowing how much he’s invested into this team.”The Vikings (4-4) beat the Packers 24-10 on Sunday and climbed above the cut for the playoffs after an 0-3 start. DENVER (AP) — Lawyers for a group of Colorado voters on Monday focused on the January 2021 assault on the U.S. Capitol and former President Donald Trump’s role, opening a trial that could determine whether the Constitution’s insurrection clause bars Trump from running again for the White House.Attorney Eric Olson recounted Trump’s violent rhetoric preceding the Jan. 6 attack and his encouraging a crowd that came within “40 feet” of the vice president when it stormed the Capitol. He said Trump “summoned and organized the mob.” Jenna Ellis pleads guilty in Georgia election interference case “We are here because Trump claims, after all that, that he has the right to be president again,” Olson said. “But our Constitution, the shared charter of our nation, says he cannot do so.” Trump’s legal team and presidential campaign assailed the lawsuit as little more than an attempt by Democrats to derail his attempt to reclaim his old job. Trump is so far dominating the Republican presidential...Independence Pass closes for the winter

DENVER (KDVR) -- Part of Colorado Highway 82, specifically Independence Pass, was closed for the season as of Monday, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation. CDOT said winter weather conditions and significant early snowfall over the weekend caused the closure, which typically starts the first week of November and lasts until around Memorial Day weekend. This Colorado town got the most snow this weekend Along with being a scenic byway, the pass provides access to Aspen from Denver and is the highest paved state highway in Colorado at an elevation of 12,095 feet. The road is 32 miles long and includes narrow and curvy sections and steep switchbacks. CDOT said plowing both sides of the pass is not safe during winter. The highway also includes steep drop-offs in several areas and can only be driven by one car in certain sections. CDOT said these features, as well as heavy snowfall at the high elevation, cause it to be impossible to pass during the winter. Because of the...Latest news
