Billboard to refund ticketholders for rained-out SXSW concert AUSTIN (KXAN) — After rainy weather canceled Billboard's concert at South by Southwest on Thursday, the music company announced ticket buyers would be refunded. The March 16 concert was supposed to be the first night of Billboard's The State at SXSW series, which continued Friday night and will end Saturday. The events are held outdoors at the Moody Amphitheater. PREVIOUS: SXSW and Rodeo Austin prepare for weather "All tickets purchased for this concert through the Moody Amphitheater box office or Ticketmaster will be refunded," Billboard said Friday on Twitter. Billboard added that original ticket purchasers will get more information and refunds from Ticketmaster. Performers on March 16 were to include Lil Yachty, Lola Brooke and Armani White. Gophers hire Dawn Plitzuweit as next women’s basketball coach Just more than two weeks after Lindsay Whalen stepped down as basketball coach at her alma mater, Minnesota has hired her successor, Dawn Plitzuweit, who led South Dakota to the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2022.The university and Plitzuweit have agreed to a six-year contract pending Board of Regents approval and the completion of a background check. A native of West Bend, Wis., she will be introduced at a news conference scheduled for Monday afternoon.“I am extremely excited,” Plitzuweit said in a statement.Plitzuweit became West Virginia’s head coach this season and led the Mountaineers to 19 victories and an NCAA tournament berth. $20,000 reward offered after woman with ties to Southern California kidnapped in Mexico The FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office is offering a reward of up to $20,000 for information related to the kidnapping of 63-year-old U.S. citizen Maria del Carmen Lopez. Lopez, a dual citizen of the United States and Mexico, was abducted from her residence in Pueblo Nuevo in the Mexican state of Colima on Feb. 9 by several hooded men. The mother of seven and her husband have been living in Mexico for the last 10 years after raising their family in the Los Angeles area.
