Man jailed for killing man, 74, and injuring woman in attack at Bloomington home, police say

A suspect is jailed for allegedly killing a 74-year-old man and injuring a 72-year-old woman in a Bloomington home early Thursday, police said.The attack, in which both victims appeared to have been beaten and stabbed, was not random, Bloomington police said in a statement.Officers were sent to the 1000 block of 105th Street at 4:40 a.m. Thursday after a 911 caller said someone was inside their home and they needed help, police said. Once there, officers found the woman on the ground in the home.Officers saw a suspect running away from the home and arrested him.The man was then found inside the home.Both victims were treated for their injuries before being taken by ambulance to the Hennepin County Medical Center, in Minneapolis, where the man was pronounced dead.The 44-year-old suspect was being held Thursday at the Bloomington Police Department on suspicion of murder, police said. QUEENSBURY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Warren County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in identifying people of interest in a counterfeit money investigation.The sheriff's office said a group at Aviation Mall in Queensbury on Tuesday allegedly used fake $100 bills to purchase items. LINCOLN COUNTY, Mo. – A Lincoln County man is in custody after allegedly initiating a standoff and shooting a sheriff's deputy before briefly fleeing authorities.The incident happened in the 1600 block of Creech School Road, between Moscow Mills and Old Monroe.Police, fire, and EMS units were dispatched to a home for a reported house and vehicle fire.A deputy was shot in the arm, and the suspect fled into a nearby wooded area. A man was arrested for a string of commercial burglaries that occurred in the span of two days in Riverside, and further investigation linked him to other robberies in Rialto. According to a press release from the Riverside Police Department, four businesses in the Mission Grove and Orangecrest neighborhoods were broken into during the early mornings of July 19 and July 20. The break-ins occurred at Gra Pow Restaurant, a Cold Stone Creamery, Men’s Club Barbershop and Hollywood Threading, and detectives found that the suspect entered all four locations through the ceilings and got away with tens of thousands of dollars in cash and jewelry. Due to their similar nature, investigators concluded that all four of the burglaries were likely committed by the same suspect, police said. HAYWARD – BART on Thursday briefly closed its Hayward station following a report of a person possibly hit by a train.The person’s condition was not immediately known.The station was closed at 5:53 p.m. for an investigation, said BART spokesperson Chris Filippi. Trains were allowed to run through but not stop at the station, while buses provided an alternative means of transportation.The station reopened around 6:45 p.m., Filippi said. (KRON) -- A number of packages were stolen from a FedEx truck last Friday Aug. 18, according to the Daly City Police Department (DCPD). Around 5:33 p.m. on Westdale Avenue, a FedEx employee was delivering packages when a white Honda Accord drove up to the truck. IKEA store evacuated during SF grand opening The driver of the Accord, which had tinted windows and no license plate, stayed in the car. Police said two other suspects entered the FedEx truck and took multiple packages. The FedEx employee realized the suspects were stealing the packages and approached the suspects. One of the suspects ran back to the Honda, but the other suspect punched the employee, police said. The employee was injured, but the severity is unknown. All suspects were able to drive away in the Honda. DCPD said they went westbound on Westdale Avenue. DCPD did not release any further information about this incident.Latest news
