Joe Biden’s Secret Oval Office TV

Published Fri, 01 Nov 2024 21:30:38 GMT

Joe Biden’s Secret Oval Office TV Eli Stokols is a White House correspondent and co-author of West Wing Playbook. We might never again have a president like Donald Trump, a reality TV star who spent hours in the Oval Office watching TV and reacting in real time to coverage of himself. But while he can’t match his predecessor’s compulsive appetites, that doesn’t mean Joe Biden isn’t obsessed with the media in his own way. He’s not just an avid media consumer (yes, there’s a TV hidden in the Oval Office), he’s also very attuned to how the media portrays him and is likely to get miffed over critical coverage and the media’s myopic focus on breaking news over the big picture. He’ll call up his favorite writers and columnists and he pays close attention to the number of people defending him on TV.On this weekend that celebrates the long history of chronicling the most important office in America, we thought we’d find out how the current occupant of the White House consumes the work of those who regard him so relentlessly....

I’m not having a good day. Don’t do anything stupid. I don’t want to kill you man,’” Emmanuel Sanchez said of a man he said robbed him at knifepoint Thursday afternoon on Centre Street. “I tried to calm down,” Sanchez said. “Don’t do nothing stupid — because he had two knives.”The robbery Sanchez described happened 24 hours after a man showed two knives while robbing a nearby Boost Mobile store. “My employee is left for fear,” said store manager Ashley Cruz. “All the employees I have are in fear now of working. Milton family calling for change after tragedy in Aruba A Milton family is calling for change after their young daughter drowned in a tubing tragedy while on vacation in Aruba last spring. Roughly a year after the incident the family of 13-year-old Cassidy Murray is now pushing officials in Aruba to take water sports safety more seriously as they say they want to prevent more families from experiencing the same grief. Murray and her family were on vacation, enjoying the sun and salty air alongside other attractions in Aruba. “This was kind of a once in a lifetime after COVID,” said Cassidy’s mother Linda Navin-Murray.Cassidy’s family wanted to hold onto those memories. Instead, they’re left with grief.“It was magical and it was just the four of us, party of four, just  plodding along and our worlds were just turned upside down,” Linda said.On the last day of vacation, Cassidy convinced her dad to go tubing. Once out on the water, though, Dave said the water was rough. “Cass got ejected into the water but it...

Instant analysis of Ravens drafting Clemson linebacker Trenton Simpson in third round Here’s what The Baltimore Sun staff had to say immediately after the Ravens drafted Clemson linebacker Trenton Simpson with the No. 86 overall pick in the third round of the NFL draft on Friday night.Childs Walker, reporter: Trenton Simpson is an excellent value pick for the Ravens, carrying a borderline first-round grade from some analysts. His production at Clemson did not always match his physical ability, but 6-foot-2, 235-pound linebackers who run the 40-yard dash in 4.43 seconds aren’t easy to find. Simpson, who played both inside and outside in college, was the best prospect available on ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr.’s board. This pick will raise questions about Patrick Queen’s future in Baltimore, with the Ravens’ deadline to pick up Queen’s fifth-year option coming up Monday. But Eric DeCosta followed his credo of best player available.Mike Preston, columnist: Trenton Simpson appears to be a solid all-around linebacker who can cover receiver...

Dolphins select CB Cam Smith, RB Devon Achane on Day 2 of NFL draft

Dolphins select CB Cam Smith, RB Devon Achane on Day 2 of NFL draft The Miami Dolphins made the surprising move of going cornerback with their first 2023 draft pick, taking South Carolina’s Cam Smith in the second round, pick No. 51, Friday night. They followed that up by drafting Texas A&M running back Devon Achane in the third round, at pick No. 84.Smith (6-foot-1, 180 pounds) had six interceptions in his four-year career with the Gamecocks, leaving for the draft as a redshirt junior. He ran a 4.43-second 40-yard dash at the NFL scouting combine. He’s touted for his length as a boundary cornerback, but scouts are concerned with his fluidity in coverage.New Dolphins defensive coordinator Vic Fangio gets a cornerback that could fit the zone-heavy coverages he’s looking to incorporate on the back end of Miami’s defense.Selecting a cornerback was surprising given the Dolphins’ needs at tight end and on the offensive line, but Miami general manager Chris Grier stayed true to his usual best-player-available approach to th...

Jarren Duran provides spark, but Red Sox fall to Guardians 5-2

Jarren Duran provides spark, but Red Sox fall to Guardians 5-2 The Red Sox offense didn’t have much of an answer for Shane Bieber and the Cleveland Guardians pitching staff. The top half of the lineup effectively no-showed and when Boston did get traffic on base the big bats couldn’t bring them home.At least they had Jarren Duran. The third time has been the charm so far for the young Red Sox outfielder, who has looked like a completely different player after two failed big league stints the past two seasons. Duran made his mark again on Friday by going 3 for 4 with a trio of doubles but the Red Sox couldn’t capitalize in a 5-2 loss.“He’s in the middle of the field staying with breaking balls and playing great defense,” Red Sox manager Alex Cora said. “He’s in a good spot right now, he’s playing with a lot of energy, a lot of confidence, we’re very happy with where he’s at.”Since being called up Duran is batting .421 with a 1.126 OPS, and of his 16 total hits eight have gone...

He was a hybrid performer for Clemson, as coaches often relied on his versatility by using him as a nickel on one play and an edge rusher the next. This story will be updated. ()
